What memory cards can you actually trust?
Let’s talk memory cards! The last thing you want is to take some pics, go to load them and realize that the whole card is corrupted. These are the only memory cards that I use and I’ve never had an issue.
Ya know… besides that time that I spilled water on a card.
Thankfully the images were already loaded! Even then, the water damage to the card corrupted one image. I don’t even know how that’s possible.
But at that point the memory card had to go. Good rule of thumb: if you see any corruption on your memory card EVER, throw it away. Don’t even put it back in your camera.
Here are the memory cards I trust…
2 memory card brands that I trust
Lexar Professional
Extreme Disk Pro
There are lots of different speeds of memory cards and if you’re recording video, you’re going to want to make sure that you get something that is fast.

Compact Flash memory cards
This is the type of card that my canon 5d mark iii uses.
Compact Flash — or CF cards — are made for your DSLR camera and it’s that bigger card you see floating around in bts youtube clips.
I like to buy fast memory cards with lots of storage so I’m linking those below (amazon affiliate link for the win btw) but on the page, you can select different storage.
Sandisk Extreme Pro 128GB — fast enough for rapid fire photography and video
Lexar Professional CF 128GB — ditto what I said before… fast enough
SD Memory Cards
This is the type of card that my canon 6d mark ii uses! The canon 5d mark iii also has a spot for one of these if you want to store your images to 2 cards. Super handy in case one card randomly started having trouble and you needed a backup.
Same thing on speed and storage with these cards! We want something fast and with a lot of storage… or at least I do.
Sandisk Extreme Pro SD (300 mb/s) 64 GB —
Lexar Professional SD 64GB — you don’t have to get 300 speed but maaaan that’s fast!
Huge thanks to Sammy over on instagram for asking about memory cards!
