Interior design photoshoot + a vlog

I drove back to my hometown for an interior design shoot and worked with a good friend — Lisa of Crowder & Co — and it did not disappoint!

Worked with 3 rooms…

  1. Living room

  2. Breakfast nook

  3. Master bedroom

In the video/vlog above, I answered some questions from Instagram on memory cards, gear, camera settings, etc.

I don’t think I’ve actually talked about Hannah’s epilepsy on Youtube or the blog until now. I normally leave that conversation for instagram stories or the IG grid and before that I didn’t talk much about it at all. I think when you’re working through something like that or you’re really in the middle of it for the first time, there’s processing that has to happen.

Some people — amazing people — can handle that so gracefully on social media. But I need some time to work through it and that’s what I did from April-November.

Something has shifted though and I feel like it’s time to talk more about it. <3

Now on to this gorgeous setting…

You know how sometimes you walk into a space and your mouth drops and you’re in shock?! Welcome to this home.

I started off with the 16-35 with a tad of a zoom (probably around the 20/25mm mark) and stalked the space. Ahem.. I mean I walked around for all the angles.

Obviously I had to bring my 50mm lens because you know I go way back with that thing. Got a few detail shots of styling and character pieces…

This image above… how about those windows?! I shared the before of this photo in the vlog because on this particular day…

  • It was overcast

  • There’s a deck right outside the living room and breakfast nook

Which meant we were working in some low light conditions. PTL for those big windows, right?

On the shot above, I really like how the foreground brings you into the image. It feels like it “bookends” the image. You feel me?! Basically the lanterns are everything and so is that white couch.

Obviously had to get some pics of Lisa in her element…

This breakfast nook was DARK on this day — vlog has proof. It’s like the perfect corner to curl up with a book and I bet when the sun shines it floods the space.

But I love that it was overcast because it created gentle diffused light in this space. Adjusted those camera settings and we were good to go.

Look at those strong leading lines in the design. Lisa makes shooting a space so easy.

Hold up while we sneak around the corner into the master bedroom! This room was much brighter with no deck in front of the room and some big beautiful windows…

Definitely working with the 16-35 in these images and it is everything…

  • photograph the room how it feels in person, ceiling details included

  • put a little zoom on it + some post-production work for no warping

And of course you know I grabbed those details. Now I just need a book and a key to this house so I can soak up all this beauty on the regular.
