The sun was setting just behind the trees as they walked the paths at the Oakland House. I felt like I was in a secret garden with just a few people. In reality, there were hundreds of people celebrating Johnna & Joe. They create an intimate atmosphere around them because you're drawn in and feel like family before you even get to the second hug.

They laughed, kissed, and held each other close beneath the tall trees as the golden light bid farewell to the day. They walked down the stairs, past the reception tent, and found a little space for just the two of them. They danced and he whispered in her ear, making her laugh with ease. Always.

Because joy just overflows from these two.

During their couple photos, friends and family were beginning to arrive at the reception. It was beautiful to watch them let the world fade away even with their loved ones around. And it was beautiful to watch them take a moment to greet the people they loved. They have this beautiful way of living in the moment right in front of them and it left me captivated.

They deeply care about each other and their families and it's so, so beautiful.

Photographing Johnna's bridal details made me tear up a couple of times. I was able to use a vintage spoon and tray from her Mom's collection of beautiful antiques. I love photographing details in a way that are meaningful to the couple and there's nothing like family heirlooms.

And the two of them holding each other and walking through the last of that gorgeous light? Oh my heart.
