Time to Read
One morning I woke up to the sound of heavy rain beating on my window. I flipped the switch on the lamp by my bed and rolled over to look out into the stormy distance. My mom came in and said that the Ozark Soccer Tournament had been canceled and while this would have been bad news most of the time, I took the opportunity to rest. I reached for the book that I had been meaning to read and felt the worn spine and curled pages. I found myself smiling knowing that Isaac had read this book countless times before me. And probably when he was 8. That boy. That incredibly smart boy.
As I turned each page, I was smitten by the writings of C.S. Lewis' Mere Christianity. And it was so restful to relax beside the pages of a good book. Now, it's hard to find the time to read... something I aim to change in the coming months. Until then, here is an iPhone photo excerpt from Jesus Calling. Great devotional.
