Passover to Easter: Day 6 (The Waiting)
"And may you have the power to understand,
as all God’s people should,
how wide, how long, how high,
and how deep his love is."
But does He really love me? Or is He just using me and my circumstances? Is He just letting me endure trials and hardships for His own benefit? After all, He doesn't waste anything and He works all things together for the good of those who love Him (Romans 8:28).
It's easy to believe that Jesus doesn't have any skin in the game. That He's seated on His throne, removed from our everyday, and letting trials and hardships swarm all around us.
But He put His skin in the game.
He physically put His own skin in the game when He died on the cross. He was undeserving because death is the punishment for sin. He was found blameless (2 Corinthians 5:21) and yet He died a sinner's death, which is death itself. And still, He died the death that the Romans assigned to the most evil.
He put His skin in the game. He does battle for us.
He's no lazy man on the couch barking orders. He's not abusive. He's not exclusive.
Cancer. Orphans. Widows. Job Loss. Chronic Illness. Infertility. Miscarriage. Injury.
We are not alone when we face trials in this life. He is our help when things get rough (Psalm 46:3) and He has not left us, but given us a great gift. A friend, and a counselor to walk us through it all (John 15). And the same Holy Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead is the one who belongs to God's children (Romans 8:11).
Today, we wait. I'm waiting for Jesus to come back again and raise our baby from the dead. I'm waiting for Jesus to give us the second child He promised.
Today is for waiting.
Your emotions are not a bad thing, friend. Whatever season you're in - whatever you're wrestling with - you don't need to hide your feelings from God. When we take our feelings before the Lord, He speaks truth over us. Yes, with scripture. And also with His actual words.
Wondering if God really wants to talk to you? I wrote this post for you.
I'll be back tomorrow on the blog with day 7! I would love to hear how He meets you and speaks to you this week. Let me know in the comments below or hop over to Instagram and let me know there. Praying for you, friend.
