We stood in a jewelry store on the square of the smallest town in America. Okay it's probably not the smallest, but it doesn't even have a Target. We looked through images of wedding bands and talked about gold gold and white gold and wrote a check so the jeweler could order our rings. They were expensive and took an entire month's check (still in college), but we walked to the car a little bit lighter than before. And I never understood the value of wedding rings until then... it was a symbol of our marriage. Our marriage. And that was something to smile about.
The inscriptions read: "You will be our God and we will be Your people."
