Jenna, Waiting

I was journaling one day when the Lord gave me a vision of women hearing and receiving words from Him. The pieces of truth look like torn pieces of paper and fluttered down as if they had been thrown from a fire. I could see the truth and then what it looked like on each woman.

I could see that He was calling up a generation of women. And His heart was that they would love Him with all that they had. I saw torn cloth fall away as they embraced each new truth. An ocean fire burned in their eyes as they were made new and set their eyes on Him.

He was their King and they walked through hills that were covered in darkness. But they weren't afraid. They were at peace and there was a still joy as they followed their King through the black hills.

That vision is what inspired this entire shoot. I wanted to take a piece of scripture, read it out loud, and let God show me what it looked like on a woman. I wanted that woman to walk in new truth and live in freedom because that's the life that God has declared for His children!

A couple days later, Jenna texted me and said she wanted to do a shoot about lies and truth. I told her that I had been thinking of something similar and we decided on a date for the session!

The day of the session I asked Jenna to pick a verse that would inspire the session. She picked 2 Corinthians 5:15: "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come. The old has gone, the new is here!" I read the verse and my heart started racing. This was exactly what I had seen.

And then she picked another verse (1 John 1:5): "The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it." It's so moving to see God do His weaving. He is not far from us - He is near! And He is moving!

Now, let me show you what He did! May His Holy Spirit stir in your heart as you see...

I started the session by having Jenna say aloud the lies that she hears about herself...

Jenna cried. I cried. And my littlest sister, Jianna, cried. But God. He is able to replace those lies with truth in a way that radically changes our lives!! I asked her who God said she was and she said, "I am a child of God." She repeated it again. And then again. Joy burst forth because darkness has not overcome the light...

Jianna had to hug Jenna...

And then I started reading scripture out loud from 2 Corinthians 5.

"For we know that if the earthly tent we live in is destroyed, we have a building from God, an eternal house in heaven, not built by human hands."

"Meanwhile we groan, longing to be clothed instead with our heavenly dwelling,  because when we are clothed, we will not be found naked. For while we are in this tent, we groan and are burdened..."

"...because we do not wish to be unclothed but to be clothed instead with our heavenly dwelling, so that what is mortal may be swallowed up by life. "

Springfield, MO Senior Photographer - Jordan Brittley (jordanbrittley.com)

"Now the one who has fashioned us for this very purpose is God..."

Springfield, MO Senior Photographer - Jordan Brittley (jordanbrittley.com)

"...who has given us the Spirit as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come."

Springfield, MO Senior Photographer - Jordan Brittley (jordanbrittley.com)

"Therefore we are always confident..."

Springfield, MO Senior Photographer - Jordan Brittley (jordanbrittley.com)

"...and know that as long as we are at home in the body we are away from the Lord."

Springfield, MO Senior Photographer - Jordan Brittley (jordanbrittley.com)

"For we live by faith, not by sight."

Springfield, MO Senior Photographer - Jordan Brittley (jordanbrittley.com)

"We are confident, I say, and would prefer to be away from the body and at home with the Lord."

Springfield, MO Senior Photographer - Jordan Brittley (jordanbrittley.com)

"So we make it our goal to please him, whether we are at home in the body or away from it."

Springfield, MO Senior Photographer - Jordan Brittley (jordanbrittley.com)

"For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ..."

Springfield, MO Senior Photographer - Jordan Brittley (jordanbrittley.com)

"...so that each of us may receive what is due us for the things done while in the body, whether good or bad."

Springfield, MO Senior Photographer - Jordan Brittley (jordanbrittley.com)

"Since, then, we know what it is to fear the Lord, we try to persuade others. What we are is plain to God, and I hope it is also plain to your conscience. We are not trying to commend ourselves to you again, but are giving you an opportunity to take pride in us, so that you can answer those who take pride in what is seen rather than in what is in the heart."

"If we are “out of our mind,” as some say, it is for God..."

We are not trying to commend ourselves to you again, but are giving you an opportunity to take pride in us, so that you can answer those who take pride in what is seen rather than in what is in the heart.

"...if we are in our right mind, it is for you."

We are not trying to commend ourselves to you again, but are giving you an opportunity to take pride in us, so that you can answer those who take pride in what is seen rather than in what is in the heart.

"For Christ’s love compels us, because we are convinced that one died for all, and therefore all died."

We are not trying to commend ourselves to you again, but are giving you an opportunity to take pride in us, so that you can answer those who take pride in what is seen rather than in what is in the heart.

As we were walking toward the sun, Jenna found a daisy. The Lord gave me a vision of a daisy emerging from the soil in the dark. He revealed to me that He had grown that flower from a tiny seed just for Jenna. It was the only flower we saw that night.

So from now on we regard no one from a worldly point of view. Though we once regarded Christ in this way, we do so no longer. 17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come:[a] The old has gone, the new is here! 18 All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: 19 that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting people’s sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation. 20 We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God. 21 God made him who had no sin to be sin[b] for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.

I exclaimed that God grew that flower from a tiny seed and its only purpose was a gift for her! We all cried.

"And he died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for him who died for them and was raised again."

We are not trying to commend ourselves to you again, but are giving you an opportunity to take pride in us, so that you can answer those who take pride in what is seen rather than in what is in the heart.
