My very first photo shoot was with my sisters. It happened just before my freshman year of high school when we were visiting my grandma. Her house was surrounded by fields and the backyard eventually met a barn. I had my mom's camera around my neck which was usual and we went to the gate and watched the cows. I remember this photograph that I took of Jenna where the wind had caught pieces of her hair and pushed the strands toward her face.
Photographing my sisters is one of my very favorite things. I always seem to grow as an artist when they let me photograph them because my guard is down and my creativity is in full swing. There is no pressure, fear, or technically correct. I always give myself permission to just be an artist. And that, my friends, is where I grow. So the challenge that I'm leaving myself for the rest of 2015 is to just be an artist. Yes, that means being professional, calm, and efficient. But I have a feeling that "artist" can fit right in.
