They walked the cobblestone path under the thick, grey clouds. They held hands just like they had for five years. But this time there was a ring on her hand and they were walking toward a future together.
Past the little Georgetown shops, around the people waiting for their cupcakes, and down to the long canal - her hand in his. Megan leaned over to him and laughed. Her head rested on his shoulder and her hand on his back. Justin was already laughing and pulling her closer by instinct. Through all that they have seen together, they have learned that the response to anything is to draw close to each other.
Megan fills a room with laughter all by herself. But Justin seems to encourage her to do whatever she is doing even more boldly. He draws out all of her strengths, challenging her to live under even more freedom. And they do all of this without realizing it. Because they are better together than they were apart.
Always his hand and hers.
