Being Others-Focused in a World That Tells You to Hustle for Yourself

I have a studio on the square. I see a business owner grabbing coffee. The shop I walk past on my way to a shoot. The people building something in the same town I am building something in.

They matter to me. And I believe my success should mean something for them too.

Success Is Something You Steward

There is a version of business success that is purely personal. You hit your numbers, grow your brand, build your life. And that is yours. You earned it.

But I think there is more available than that.

I believe that when a business grows, the people around it should feel that. In a real, tangible, I-am-going-to-put-my-arms-around-you kind of way.

My success is not just mine to keep. It is mine to steward. And part of stewarding it well means being genuinely generous with the people in my corner of the world.

Generosity Is Not One Thing

When most people think about generosity in business they think about discounts or donations or giving things away. And those things have their place.

But generosity is so much bigger than that.

It is taking care of others. It is the encouragement you give someone who is just starting out. It is showing up for other businesses the way you want people to show up for yours. It is using your platform to lift people up instead of just promote yourself.

Generosity is a posture. And once you adopt it, you start seeing opportunities for it everywhere.

This Is My Responsibility

I work with clients all over the world on their amazon photos and videos, brand content, social media ckntetn, etc. Some of the most successful businesses I work with feel a real sense of responsibility toward their community.

It’s inspiring.

The mindset shifts to I get to be here. I get to build something here. And because of that I get to be a part of what this place becomes.

I want the businesses around me to grow. I want the people I see every day to feel supported. I want my town to be better because my business is here.

If you are building a business, you have more influence than you think.

Not just with your clients but with your community too. With the people in your orbit who are watching how you operate, how you treat people, what you do with what you have been given.

The others-focused approach is countercultural right now. Everything around you is telling you to protect your time, guard your energy, and optimize every interaction for personal gain.

But this approach is deeply rewarding.

Put your arms around people. Lift them up. Be generous in every way you can think of.
