This was such a fun post to write! Perhaps my favorite memory was starting regular contractions during an engagement session!! We had a full year with clients that we really, REALLY love! Looking through 2015 makes me so thankful for the couples we serve and the creatives we get to hang out with! We started focusing on taking behind the scenes photos in August, so there are a few gaps! Here's a look behind the scenes of Jordan Brittley!
You might be surprised to find out that Kim and her chickens made one of the top portrait posts for 2015. But then again, you might not be surprised! We ran outside after this shoot where she modeled with her husband! I am pretty sure that chickens have never looked so lovely!
And that lovely table setting on the left? This was for a dinner party that I attended! I felt so special to get to sit at one of the tables that I photographed. Plus, the food was amazing!
Remember me saying that Kim and her husband modeled for a shoot?! I couldn't love them more for letting their personalities shine!
And then there was that time that Larissa and I did a hair tutorial (left)! You might recognize the photo of Cafe Europa from Yeng + Steve's engagement session. What you don't know is that I started having regular contractions during their session! They didn't let up for 10 days and then we finally got to meet our son!
And here we are at Sara and Keith's wedding!! I had just had a baby 10 days earlier and I was exhausted (and look a little crazy). It looks like we are having some sort of moment while I hand him the parasol but we really just love shooting weddings together!
Sara was so excited when Daniel was born because she (1) is a labor and delivery nurse and loves babies and (2) knew that I would get to shoot her wedding!
In case you're wondering what it's like to be a second shooter, this about sums it up! I make you lay on the floor and place rings in a cup while I take pictures of you.
It's actually quite hard to balance rings in a tea cup!
Isaac can be found holding anywhere from 1-6 bouquets at a time...
But his hustle totally pays off when I can get shots like this one. And even though he totally deserved a break by this point, he is sitting there so I can get my light!
Charity and Alli are doing their thing and making everything look lovely...
All so I could photograph this beautiful table setting...
It was so hot on this wedding day. So Isaac spent time fanning the bride and groom and carrying a 40' garland!
This is the best photo I have ever been part of. The man on the scooter photo bombed our wedding party photo on a fire truck. This was after the wedding party made friends with the firemen. All random. All awesome.
We love our clients! And we love it when they want a photo with us!
That time we stumbled across this gem in Kansas City...
You might think that I'm doing the chicken dance but I just take bouquet shots very seriously...
And then Jaelyn took a photo of the three of us during her engagement session. We don't normally bring Daniel but we were photographing my sister and made a trip out of it!
Switching back and forth between two cameras is no easy task. I think it's time to try this Holdfast camera strap. Also, would you believe me if I told you that I don't actually creep up on you during a first look?! I look like I'm hiding in the bushes, amiright?!
Don't mind me while I walk through your shot...
Ring shots are intense. Also, I am so thankful for the girls at Ann Taylor who helped me pick out my fall and winter wardrobe. This cape is a favorite!
Sometimes I make you climb things in your blush wedding gown...
But you love it!
And here's a look behind the scenes of our own family photos!!
Happy New Year, friends!
