August Goals in 2014

It’s the beginning of August and I’m so excited to start a new list of goals! In July, Isaac and I went to youth camp as adults to invest in the lives of students and I filmed a promotional piece for the youth group. I flew to Georgia for two photo + video sessions, booked five weddings, drove countless miles, blogged every day and the list goes on. I’m telling you this because I have never been this productive in my business or personal life before. The calendaring system has made a HUGE difference in how much I get done every day. All of these things were important, but there was one specific very important thing that I didn’t make time for each day. So I want to tell you to never sacrifice the important for the urgent.

I have noticed that I have felt more rushed in the last week and it’s not from having too much to do or getting too much done. I have been overwhelmed because I haven’t been in the Word. I feel overwhelmed because I have been trying to do things in my own effort. It’s like I think that if I just stick to my schedule, I will make it through the day and it will be a success. And maybe I will have a lot of things to show for my diligent work, but where is the joy apart from my life in the Lord? At some point I started working for myself instead of for the Lord and my physical body could feel the difference.

Isaiah 40:31 “But those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.

This kind of life described in Isaiah isn’t something that is going to just happen to me. Hoping in the Lord is never going to just happen to me. I must take action and actively HOPE in Him. One of the ways that I plan on reminding myself of this truth every day is by being in the Word. I need to dig in. I need to let the Lord sustain me and guide me and I need to hope in Him. I need to refocus and work for Him.

Personal Hope in the Lord Read 1 fictional book - After 700+ pages of business in July, I am making myself read fiction.
