The light poured in through the window in the kitchen, meeting Amelia's skin for the first time. (That might be a slight exaggeration but she was pretty little, okay?) They laid her in the bassinet that his parents used when they brought Stephen home. And now she laid there on the light yellow sheets and blinked big blinks. She took in the world like little babies do and her eyes glistened when they met the light.
Amelia's parents held her close and took in each little detail. She yawned a big yawn and wiggled around in her swaddle. And her parents? They were still staring at their beautiful Amelia. If they could have seen the three of them standing there, they would have been staring at that too. Because with each passing moment they were becoming a family and it was one of the most beautiful things I have ever seen.
